His grandfather Hazrat Moulana Golam Sharif was a man who believed in the Islamic style of life. He had no faith in western education and never thought of giving Dr. Amin modern education. He thought modern education would destroy religious faith. So he arranged Dr. Amin’s education in the old traditional manner. His grandfather had him taught at home. There was a madrasa near their house but he did not send Dr. Amin to the Madrasa as his grandfather did not have high opinion about it. He decided that after few years Dr. Amin would be sent to a good Madrasa in Chittagong. But his father Moulana Nurul Islam was an outstanding and farsighted man with modern thought. He decided Amin would be sent to school, not Madrasha.
